More Service in Adelaide (Friday, 6/22-Wednesday 6/27)

On Friday, I prepared a story and the game for the kids club. There were about eight kids that came and this was the Kids Club and they enjoyed both the story and the game. Also we had Youth Group and that was a lot of fun. We finished up the 12 part series of Bible Truths on DVD with the last topic dealing with the Return of Christ. We can say that Christ is coming soon and all Christians (those who put their trust in Jesus Christ and their Savior) shall be on the victorious side and that the tribulation will be rough.

On Saturday, I got to help clean the church Pastor Honeychurch and his wife. I got to clean most of the gym which was not cleaned for at least a couple of months. I got to vacuum the whole gym floor and it looks so much cleaner than it was before.

I got to preach at Southwest Baptist Church on the Sunday Evening Service. I was preaching from 2 Corinthians 1:3-11 how God comforts in all our trials so that we may comfort others by pointing them to God, by being a blessing to others by not quitting, by praying for others, and by giving thanks to those who prayed for you. My sermon can be summarized by these 8 words.

Praise God, Don’t quit, Pray, and Give Thanks.

I thank God for the opportunity and the strength that he gave me to preach that night.

On Monday, I assisted the Pastor to replace the new words on the new church sign. It might seem to be a small job. However God is pleased for us to do jobs even that may seem insignificant. Jesus Christ put himself low and was willing to jobs such as washing his disciples’ feet and spending time with children.

On Tuesday, I got to go to the senior couple house. Pastor and I helped the couple to prune their fruit trees at their backyard. After that, the Pastor left me with the couple and the man of the couple took me to go with him to visit a couple of families. Throughout the day, he shared with me a lot of things about his life and how He praised God for leading his life from the time of his salvation (from 21 years old). We had a good conversation.

That evening, the Evangelist Frasier Young and his wife came to Pastor’s house to have dinner together. This is the one who is going to be preaching at the teen camp next week. I went to the Adult Bible Study that night and the Evangelist preached that night. I was challenged and encouraged by his message.

Wednesday, I got to hike up to Mount Lofty which is a four kilometer hike up to the mountain. I tried to get up as fast as I can and the hike got really tough when I got up to the steep hills. I got to hike with the Pastor’s son Aaron and his wife and his sister-in-law. It was a fun hike and we got to hike all the way down on the same path. On the way down, I got some pictures of some cool pictures especially the waterfalls.

Update Prayers:
  1. Continue to pray for the camp that the God will work in all of us that we would all draw closer to Him.
  2. Pray for Traver and Amy Freeman for their travel safety to Australia and that Lord gives them opportunities to witness as they make their way to Australia. They will also be at teen camp as well. (I am looking forward to see them soon.
  3. Pray for me that I am starting to learn a new language on my own. I don't know what path this will lead me. Pray for me that if it is the Lord's will that I can learn this language to used in His ministry. I would like to eventually learn several languages. This language is Japanese.

Highlights of Adelaide (Thursday, 6/14-Thursday 6/21)

Brenton Honeychurch, the Pastor of Southwest Baptist Church from Brighton, South Australia, picked me up from the Adelaide Bus Station to his home. They have set a room available for me to sleep for the next two weeks.

I got to help out in various ministries at the church. On Friday evening, I got to lead the memory verse and a game related to the memory verse. After the Kid's club was the  Youth Group. I got to observe both the games, the devotion, and the fellowship with the Youth Group. There were about twenty people (ranging from teenagers all the way to the upper twenties). I had a lot of fun there and we end up staying at the church until late that night.

On Sunday, I got to play my saxophone during Sunday morning service and the piano on Sunday evening. The congregation size was a little bigger than Maldoff's church in Mildura. The people in the church treated have treated kindly. I recognized a lot of the people in the church especially the young people who were at camp last year. It was nice to see them again.

On Tuesday, I went to a Young Adult Bible study where Pastor's son Aaron led the Bible Study going over the book of Galatians. Everyone participated in the Bible Study and it was very enjoyable and profitable.

On Thursday, Pastor woke me up at 6:30 in the morning to go to Men's Prayer Time. There were only four of us and we all prayed together especially for the upcoming winter camp.
Later that day, I went to an adult Bible study going over the 7 seal judgments, 7 trumpet judgments, and the 7 vial judgments. After that, one man who picked me up from the Bible study took me to lunch at a Vietnamese Restaurant. We had a good conversation and the man shared his salvation testimony how God changed his life over the last 6 years. His testimony has encouraged my heart.

Throughout the week, I enjoyed the food that Mrs. Honeychurch cooks. They treat me very well. I also got to go to their gym a few times which I only had to pay $30 (Australian) for using the gym for the next thirty days as often as I want. I have been doing more observations and hands-on work ministry this week so I had more free time to relax.

Please pray for the camp that is coming up in a week that God will touch the hearts of all who will be in the camp through the preaching of God's word and the shining testimony of all Christians so that we can represent Christ to the unsaved and encourage other believers to continue to live for Christ. Thank you.

My first week in Adelaide (Sightseeing)

Last year when I went to Australia with the Pensacola Team, we were only in Adelaide for one day. So this year I am going to be in Adelaide for two and a half weeks. I was able to get to see some of the places around Adelaide during my first week. Here are some of the pictures that I have taken.

Granite Island Kaiki

This Rock is a shape of the Snake's Head

Beautiful Sunset in Adelaide

I got to see some amazing high views of Adelaide as well as some beautiful beaches. I hope enjoyed these pictures.

Final week with the Maldoffs before Adelaide (Friday, 6/8-Thursday, 6/14)

I apologize for not bringing up the updates for a while.

On Friday, I moved to a guest house (also known as Granny Flats) which is owned by the Henders (the mother and four girls). The mother was so generous to me and gave me lots of food including apples (I have not eaten apples a long time. YAY!) I stayed there for a week before I went to Aedelie.

On Friday night, I got to spend time with Goodwin’s family who has three sons: Adrian (16), Locklin (14), and Brady (10). We ate pizza and played video games together at the home. I also got a tour of their workshop. There were so many machines and tools in this room and I thought it was really cool. I also got to see an anvil (the black heavy object that you see in cartoons) for the first time in person.

Finally, we went off at the night to visit the salt mine where the father works. There was a huge salt mountain in the salt mine. The boys and I got to climb the salt mountain. We had a blast.

On Sunday, I got to teach the 2-5 year old Sunday school for the second time. I had three kids in the class that day I had a better grasp in handling the class than last week although I still had a lot to learn. After the service, we had a lunch fellowship together at the church. Even though the lunch was not all that fancy but the fellowship was great and that is the important part. I got to get to know more about some of the people in the church through our lunch fellowship.

Tuesday and Wednesday were a huge stretch for me. I got to teach Sarah’s class (grade 9-10) at the Christian school on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I got to teach all four classes that Mrs. Christy Maldoff would have taught in Buronga and Golgol School as well as the Teen Bible Study that evening at the church. Last week I taught five classes all together. Wednesday, I taught five classes. The Maldoffs are certainly gave me a lot of teaching experience from the ages of 2 to 19. Well, part 1 of 3 of my Australia trip is done. I can say that I have seen God has been working in my life with children and with teaching. I would never thought I would be teaching so much in front of many children before I came to Australia. I thank God for his strength for your prayers in this trip. Now, I am off to Adelaide.

Update Break

If you have any specific questions or suggestions bout this trip, let me know and I will respond it to you as soon as I can. I want this blog to be useful for your benefits.

Teaching, teaching, and teaching (Monday, 6/7-Thursday, 6/10

Hello again,
I have taught a class on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and two on Wednesday. I never taught that many times before. The LORD was with me and gave me strength in every teaching. I thank God for it.

Monday-Went-worth Bible Club

I taught another animal story at the Bible club today and that went well. I have noticed a few of the kids were getting naughty while Pastor Steve Maldoff was teaching his Bible lesson. I am training myself in disciplining children. Disciplining children is the area that I want grow especially if I am going to work with little children (2-5 year olds) as well as being a good parent. I showed my sad and angry face to the kids communicating them that I am disappointed for their naughtiness. I made them sit with me at back row for a period of time. The kids had good reception to my discipline. I am glad. Eight kids came to the Bible club and it was just me, Pastor Maldoff, and one other man  that ran the Bible Club. When I get back to the Maldoff's house, I saw one of their dogs pee pool so I cleaned it up. You can look at my face to see how I feel about cleaning the floor.

Tuesday-Mildura Christian College

I got to watch first Steve Maldoff teach his three classes before he taught mine. Again, the Kindgarten and 1st grade class was my favorite class. We got to move around a lot in that class. We all spread across the room pretending that we are in our tents waiting for manna, birds, and water. I took a couple of pictures and even a video of what we did in the class.

I got to teach the last Bible class which were contains students that are in fifth, sixth, and seventh grade. I taught for a forty minutes about Turning Point in the book of Mark how Jesus Christ reveals himself that He is the Christ, the Messiah, and the Son of God. This was my first time that I have ever taught a class. I got to teach for forty minutes. I have to say time flies really quickly when you teach. I enjoyed it.

Wednesday-Buronga and Gol Gol Public School.

I rode with both Pastor Steve and Christy Maldoff to both of the public schools. At Buronga, I watched Mrs. Christy Maldoff to teach two classes (Kindergarteners and 1st grade). At Golgol-I got to teach the 2nd grade class of about 15-20 students about God giving a threefold promise to Abraham. After that, I watched Pastor Steve Maldoff teaching his 30 5th-6th graders in that school. We were all done with our teaching right before lunch time and I finished preparing my Teen Bible Study for that night.

Wednesday-Teen Bible Study

There were four teens that were at the Teen Bible Study that night. This was my last teaching for the week and the Philippians study was by far my favorite teaching. I went through Philippians 1:9-11 how God wants us to grow our love for wisdom. One of my objectives in this Bible study is to get these teenagers to think. I want them to get to the point how they can apply the word of God in their hearts. I am very pleased to see one of them in my group has already a good understanding of this Bible study. The others seem to get the grasp of the lesson. Pray for me that I will work one my next lesson for the Bible study for next week and that God will work in my heart and hearts of the teenagers that we will all grow closer in love with God.

Thursday-The Day of Rest

I ran around the city of Mildura for exercise that morning and babysit Maldoff's daugthers in the evening as well as working on my updates.

What an Experience with the Kids (Friday,6/1-Sunday, 6/3)

Happy June to all of you.

Friday with the Maldoffs

I stayed with the Maldoff's for the whole day. Mrs. Christy Maldoff gave me instructions and tips on how to run a Sunday School with the Kindergartners. I never worked with kids that young before let alone teaching them both the Bible story and the character story. I do not what I am going to get into when that time comes. That afternoon, I prepared for my Sunday school class and one of the lessons that I am going to teach at Mildura Christian College. For the evening when the girls came back from school, I spent time with the family at dinner and played the Trivia Video Game Buzz with Pastor Steve and Sarah!!! (Those of you have been to the Maldoff's know what that game is. :) That day was a good relaxing day for me.

Saturday-Men's Prayer Breakfast

In 7:30 AM, a group of men had breakfast together at one of the church family's home. We had breakfast together with bacon & egg sandwich grilled by one of the guys and hot drinks. Then we men went inside the house studying 2 Samuel 11-12 which is about David's great sin against Bathsheba and Uriah. We had a very good and profitable discussion at the table. I was really blessed. For the rest of the day, I mainly spent time running outside in the city of Mildura and then prepared for my Sunday School lesson on Sunday. By the way, the food tasted good, but a lot of cholesterol.

Sunday-Sunday School

I got to teach in front of six children that were five years old and younger. I thought it was a rough first day as far as getting through the lesson to the children. A couple of kids had their small seats and they were coming closer to me as I was teaching. By the time I finished teaching, they were all sitting right in front of me. One of the kids would stop grabbing on me while I was teaching. It was discouraging that my first day did not go so well. But I did enjoy working with these young kids though. I can say that preparation and organization would help greatly in running this Sunday school more smoothly and I will be doing it again next week. For the rest of the day, I am relaxing with the Maldoffs and preparing for the lessons that I will be teaching this week.
